Catalan independence supporters react to the news that the Catalan Parliament votes to declare independence from Spain. MPs in the Catalan parliament have today voted following a two day session on how to respond the Spanish government's enacting of Article 155, which would curtail Catalan autonomy.
Thousands wave flags and celebrate in the streets of Barcelona following the announcement that Catalonia declared independence from Spain, declaring the Catalan republic. Moments after the declaration, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy tweeted that the rule of law would be restored in Catalonia.
